Education is Key for Cannabis Consumers
The majority of the U.S. population favors legalization of cannabis and more and more people are seeing strong benefits of the cannabis plant and its ingredients.
One of the key factors that will drive strong growth and responsible use of cannabis by adults is education. Consumers need information to understand how cannabis can help them achieve their consumption goals, whether it be for medical or recreational use. Three key areas drive education for cannabis consumers: research, testing, and delivery of information.
Research
Not enough research has been done on the effects of cannabis due to the fact that it has been on the “List of Schedule 1 Drugs.” Yes we have some understanding of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other ingredients in cannabis, but far more research is required to capture the potential benefits of this incredible plant.
But there is still an abundance of useful information that should be actively promoted and shared with the public as it relates to medical and recreational use. The myopic obsession of THC level is a great example of the need to share research that is available today.
Testing
Authentic cannabis products are required to go through a series of tests for contaminants and ingredient measurements from a certified independent lab. Simply stated, cannabis consumers need to know that the product they are consuming has gone through certified testing and that they have access to these test results.
Information
Cannabis consumers need to be provided with a product description such that they better understand the likely effects of the cannabis they consume. Additional valuable information includes dosage recommendations and the certified test results of the cannabis product. All this information is available by simply scanning a LucidID on cannabis packages. Cannabis brands can deliver an abundance of valuable information about their product and educate consumers by implementing LucidIDs on their cannabis packages.
Education is Key
Everyone in the cannabis industry must be committed to educating the cannabis consumer by providing real, accurate, and unadulterated information. Otherwise people are led to believe misinterpreted headlines, as Jimmy Kimmel sarcastically and recently pointed out - “All this time we’ve been listening to the C.D.C., we should have been eating CBD,” Kimmel said of research showing that cannabis compounds can prevent Covid-19.
