Cannabis Consumption Tips

Lucid Green does not sell cannabis, but we do want everyone that decides to consume it to have the best possible experience.

The technology behind LucidIDs, the intelligent UPC (universal product code) for cannabis, was designed to deliver trust and transparency in cannabis. This means that we work with cannabis brands who want to provide their customers the information they need to have great experiences with their products. Cannabis brands provide their customers product descriptions, dosage recommendations, and independent lab test results - all a consumer needs to do is to scan the LucidID on the brand’s cannabis package. Having this information at your fingertips at time of purchase and consumption will likely heighten your cannabis experience. But there are a few additional worthy considerations to optimize your cannabis consumption.

Start Low and Go Slow

Sometimes cannabis can be overwhelming, especially when you try a specific strain for the first time. Thus, start low and go slow. Consume a small amount at first. You can always add more, but you cannot invert consumption. If ingesting, consider the dosage of the edible/tincture/etc. Maybe consider only consuming 5 mg of THC. Wait about an hour or more to see how the product affects you. Add more at that point if desired.  The same goes for inhaling - have a single hit - wait 15 minutes to decide if you desire more.

And then there is one thing you can do if you get too high - have a high concentration of CBD handy. For many, CBD counter-balances the psychoactive nature of THC.

Educate Yourself on Cannabinoids and Terpenes

We have provided many articles about cannabinoids, terpenes, and THC. We suggest that you invest some time to learn about the various ingredients and their likely effects.

Understand How Various Consumption Methods Affect You

Different consumption methods have different effects. According to Weedmaps, “smoking weed and eating a cannabis edible deliver two entirely different experiences … the process of metabolizing THC is significantly longer when you ingest an edible, typically anywhere between 45 minutes and three hours. The delayed process of absorbing and metabolizing THC means it takes longer to feel the effects … on the other hand, the THC almost immediately travels to the brain. That means you'll feel high almost immediately, but because of the rapid absorption of THC, your high has a shorter duration than with edibles.”

The duration of one’s high also varies by consumption.

Other Tips

While you can find information on the various topics and considerations mentioned above, it is also useful to know that different cannabis strains and products affect each person differently. Yes, you can get definitions of “typical” effects of different strains, cannabinoids, terpenes and independent lab tested and measured levels of ingredients, but consuming cannabis is akin to a chemistry test. Everyone's body composition and DNA varies. So consuming cannabis will have different effects on individuals. It is also worth mentioning that an individual can have different outcomes with the same product at various times of the day based upon what they have eaten, prescription drugs taken, hours of sleep or rest and many other factors.

It is useful to log your experience with different products in order to optimize your cannabis experience. What was the product you consumed? How much did you take? How did it make you feel? This information can help to make your next cannabis experience with the same product even more enjoyable. You can log this information into your own personal and private “Stash Cabinet” in the LucidID App. (Available for download in IOS and Android.)

Enjoy your cannabis. Be responsible. Be in the know. Keep personal records of your consumption and how it made you feel.
